How to Use Colorful Accents

I know it can be hard to pull in certain colors to your wedding mix, especially those that unfortunately, have only a few floral options.  The best way to do this is to create a consistent coloring through your accessories.  Whether that entails bringing in your color via dresses or accessories, special vases, candles, holders, ribbons, table linens etc if you stay consistent with your color it gives a gorgeous effect that will look and feel both classy and consistent.

This is a wedding we did this past July, notice how we kept the flowers neutral (simple whites and greens) but accented everything with this wonderful, fun and soft shade of french blue.  This allowed our bride to have a very personalized and unique take on a classic color scheme. First we diagnosed what color it was that we wanted to bring in that could be difficult to showcase with flowers, the color we settled on was this:

From there we started pulling in the color to scenes and elements throughout the wedding:

(Then we pulled in ribbons to accentuate the blue coloring that we wanted to add, we used this ribbon everywhere and anywhere we could to really bring our french blue to life)

(Here is a stunningly simple way to decorate the chairs, a simple french blue bow tied with the tails reaching the ground is an elegant look for this modern chapel)

(Here we pulled it in with the printing on the table numbers and the different candles on the table)

Overall we were able to create a beautiful and classic wedding look by keeping our accent color throughout the scheme and in different visual areas of the wedding without going overboard on the details.  It is important to not go too far with the matching or it starts to feel too planned, you want to make sure you counter balance with other elements or you could wind up a) driving yourself nuts with swatches and b) over killing the color for your photos and guests.
